A long, deep valley leads from the direction of Victoria towards Xlendi, Gozo's main harbour in the south of the island. This small fishing village is popular with tourists and has several hotels and restaurants. Although there is only a tiny strip of sandy beach, its blue crystal waters are very inviting to swimmers. To the left, a long promenade winds its way round the bay and, to the right, a steep row of steps leads to a small grotto, Ghar Ta' Karolina.
