Victoria, Gozo

Victoria, GozoGozo's capital city was called Rabat until 1897 when it was renamed Victoria in honour of the Queen's Diamond Jubilee. To the Gozitans it has remained Rabat. Located at the centre of Gozo, Victoria is dominated by the Cittadella, Gozo's fortress.

It also boasts two theatres, the Astra Hall and Aurora Theatre, both of which regularly host operatic performances. Victoria is Gozo's administrative, transport and commercial centre and hosts a daily market.
